They take babies and toddlers from bath-time to the beach, from tap water to waterfalls and geysers. A puppet octopus and duck serve as guides through clearly labelled sections: "Ocean, Rivers and Lakes"; "Rain Drops and Puddles"; "Water at My House." A child speaks the title at the beginning and end of each unit, but those are the only words in this 24-minute "video board book." The rest of the sounds come courtesy of Handel, Telemann, Beethoven, and Johann Strauss. Both toy animals and real ones swim through the scenes and the footage of dolphins, sea turtles and fish are fascinating enough that preschoolers won't mind sitting in with younger siblings.  Rating: - ExcellentMy 22-month year old son adores this DVD, and is always asking to watch the 'Turtle' DVD, it is the only thing that keeps him in one place for more than 10 minutes. I would highly recommend these DVDs as they are educational and enjoyable for children. Rating: - Baby Neptune is fantasticWe bought this DVD for my son when he was five months old and he absolutely adores it. The themes for water are various - sea, lakes, rain, water in the home and some of the clips are truly beautiful. It's a very relaxing DVD for both baby and parents and wonderful when baby gets fretful, grizzly or is feeling a little under the weather. The puppets are comical and very sweet and teach friendship and sharing at an early age. My son watches rapt with attention from beginning to end ... This DVD definitely seems a bit more Disney-fied, and the editing is definitely more MTV-esque, but I think that the diversity of color and age make it much better. A great addition to baby's dvd collection--and a sanity saver! |
