Four Favourite Stories

Roald Dahl's voice is a delight. A refreshing change from the modern obsession for sound effects and other over-the-top techniques that, apparently, are added to capture a child's attention.

My two children listen to Dahl's audio CDs and read his books constantly. They enjoy many other styles of reading and story telling but I do believe Dahl has a special place in their hearts - and mine!

The BFG

Plot: The kind BFG is the only giant who does not eat children like all the other giants but actually horrible snozzcumbers. He catches all the dreams and gives them to children. `Boy' is about Roald Dahl's childhood and it is as good as Matilda, BFG and the Twits. It's very imaginative and true an awfully strange pair. Fantastic Mr Fox

I liked the part when Mr Fox sneaked into the chicken house.

It would be suitable for 7-12 year olds because it is fun.

My favourite character from the book is Fantastic Mr Fox because he is hilarious and amazing. This book makes people laugh every day. I like The Mr Fox because it is an amazing and fantastic Roald Dahl book. Every time Mr Fox steals a chicken from the farmers.

The Witches

This book is about a boy and his grandma. Unfortunately his parents died
so he went to live with his Nan in England. In the 6 weeks holiday he was going to Norway but his Nan had pneumonia so he could not. He went to Bournemouth instead. In the hotel there were roughly 99 witches (including the grand high witch). He went to train his mice and he got caught in the room with them .....
