If there was a zero star I would have to put that. The worst thing is reading a book where an author obviously has strange, misguided and warped opinions and hang-ups regarding society, sexuality and religious faiths and puts them into the mouths of his or her little invented characters (which all reveal a little part of the writer). This is one of Ms Blyton's better Famous Five books.

I am really surprised that this book has not been reviewed before. I have used all of the books in the Key Stage 2 range and recommended them to every school I have worked in. The reason being they are clear, differentiated and offer good practise in consolidation of topics. You can supplement your NNS round them. They are fantastic.

I loved Tintin when I was younger, something like a quarter century ago. To try to disprove the second part of my title, I reread some of my favourites, such as "The Black Island", "Land Of Black Gold" et al. and found I still thought they were great!

I am surprised at a reviewer finding this too explicit as I looked long and hard at many books on this subject and this was the only one with enough detail to explain yet not so much to scare a child. Somebody who finds this too explicit may simply not be ready to cover this subject with their child.

This book is certainly worth the money! I would recommend it for any teacher - I've been teaching for 9 years and there were lots of new ideas in here I will be using. Highly practical, (and above all fun), games are in it. Great for your auditory and kinesthetic learners. Very easy to read. Sections are separated well. A book to have on your desk ready for any maths lesson!

What's all the fuss about? Watch the films instead: that's enough. Only just OK for a quick skim through if there's nothing better on the shelf or in your bag: so much of this book is unnecessary and should've been consigned to any decent editor's bin.

But, one of the most profitable franchises in history, so what do I know? However, look at any chart - what does everyone else know?
