my two sons aged 3 and a half and aged 15 months both sit in awe of this book! there is a traditional feel with the mummy making this fantasic tea which she is happy to share with this stranger at the door - a tiger! then there is the crazy element that you would let a tiger into your house - the tiger never roars at all and amazingly my very vocal boys never roar when they see him in this book as he is a friendly tiger.

The Very Hungry Caterpillar is a great little book. It keeps my daughter occupied for hours on end. Just a quick flick through it is enough to convince any adult that a small child will like it. Simplistic, enjoyable and charming. And actually quite funny.
Well recommended for very small kids.

This is just about the worst book I have ever read. The characters to me were about as lifless as rag dolls, The story line is about the most feeble out of any book I have ever read and over all I think it was very badly written and not worth purchasing.

I started this book with high hopes; i had read the reviews here and was convinced that i had an enjoyable read before me (many have even stated that it is the greatest book ever written). In fact, i found it dull and tedious; every chapter has a minor event in it, ending in a patronising moral. I ended up skimming the book and giving it to charity. The worst book i've read in a while.

First of all let me say that this book saved me from a painfully long wait at the dealership where I took my wife's minivan for service. I expected this to take about an hour or so, and that is what I was told when I got there. I should know by now not to trust these estimates, since I ended up being there for three hours. It was the perfect amount of time to finish this book though, which I had started that morning at home. Colfer helped me feel as if the three hours were only one, and that is really something to applaud!

Having borrowed the first Artemis Fowl novel (from a friend who implored me to read it), I'd never actually owned a copy. It didn't seem right to adore a book so much and not actually own one, so I faithfully visited Amazon.co.uk to set this to rights.
