I strongly disagree with earlier reviews which imply that this book is only of historical interest. The issues Gilman address are as topical now as when they were first written. Like 'Frenchstudent' and 'Big bad wolf', I purchased this because of the Red Riding Hood cover, and was equally disappointed to find that this story wasn't included.

In fact, this edition has only one thing going for it - namely, that it's so very cheap. But really, prospective purchasers should do themselves a favour and consider spending just a few more pounds - this will get them a *complete* edition of the stories.

Anyone who would say this book could only be enjoyed by children are utterly wrong. I'm not a child and i thought it was a beautifully written and inspiring story. Our 9 year old loved reading this creative and intelligent re-writing of the classic Dicken's story. Even though the films have been seen and the songs song this book brought a freshness to the story that was appreciated by our son and also by us once he'd finished with it - which didn't take long. We look forward to ejoying more of Gill Tavner's adaptations in the near future

I still think that the Alice in Wonderland book is the benchmark for current stock of pop-up books, but this is easily in my #2 spot.

I'm not quite as enamoured of the art used here on WoZ as I was with AiW, but the quality and design is up close to the top. Very tempting to add the final star as current price £9.99 represents very good value.

Not a purchase likely to be regretted.
