When I first picked up this book, a christmas present, I thought I wouldn't be able to get past the first page. I'm not a great fan of 'classics', but this book is really enjoyable. It's not too difficult to read like some older books, but has a great story and I found it interesting, and funny too, surprisingly. I would recommend it to anyone who is new to classic-reading as well as people who enjoy older books.

March 28, 1996
If you liked Little Women and Little Men, you'll be rewarded for reading Jo's Boys because you'll find out what happened to Nat, Dan, Nan, Emil, Tom, Demi, Daisy, Bess, Jo, Meg, Amy and Laurie in another ten years.

Jo is transformed into a famous novelist who spends her time trying to hide from her public with little luck. It's quite humorous. Plumfield is now a college. Nat goes abroad for advanced training in music and learns other lessons better. Dan seeks to build a new world in ... Read More:

This is a great book if Dr. Seuss is your thing. I'd never read these as kid but my daughter at 2 and a half fell in love with Dr. Seuss after visiting Universal Studios in Florida. She loves this book and all the stories in it and can now recite the enire Cat in the Hat story whilst turning the pages using the illustrations to prompt the words - some of the smaller books don't have as much illustration- would highly recommend this book but bear in mind it's not very colourful.

From the days when they were 'Little Women', it was Jo who has been a central figure in the chronicles of March family. In 'Little Men' it is amazing to see how she has grown and matured in to a woman who resembles Mrs March. Just like Mrs March has been a pillar of strength and beacon of moralities in 'Little Women', here it is Jo, who shows the way to the unique boys.
It is interesting to note that while in 'Little Women' Mr March has been largely absent (which does not detract anything from ... Read More:

by: Jane Austen

June 12, 2003
In this somewhat atypical Jane Austen novel, Austen abandons her precise characterization and carefully constructed plots, usually designed to illustrate specific ethical and social dilemmas, and presents a much broader, more complex picture of early nineteenth century life. Though the polite behavior of the middle and upper classes is always a focus of Austen, and this novel is no exception, she is more analytical of society as a whole here, casting a critical eye on moral issues which allow the upper class ... As a primary school teacher, I used to read this to my Year 1 class. The mixed up shopping list is so irresistably 'correctable' the children would be almost yelling with frustration and enjoyment to put it right! I'm buying it for christmas for my 3 yr old neice as I know she'll love it.

I am a nine year old boy and my teacher got our class to read Just So Stories.
I think it was okay and can be hard to understand. The illustrations were different to other stories. It was funny at some parts and I enjoyed it.
But at some parts there was some dificult to understand the language.
I recommend this book to people who were around at the time it was written.

In my opinion, this book is ruined by the inclusion of the story 'Donkey-Skin'. As a first-time father reading this story at bedtime to my daughter, I found the incesteous undercurrent of this story both distasteful and uncomfortable reading.
By articulating exactly what was happening (by using the term "father's 'proposal') my skin was crawling. His actions led to the daughter having to make demands to try and 'put him off'. Just downright wrong.
Although I am usually against any sort of censorship, ... Read More:
