Roald Dahl's voice is a delight. A refreshing change from the modern obsession for sound effects and other over-the-top techniques that, apparently, are added to capture a child's attention.

My two children listen to Dahl's audio CDs and read his books constantly. They enjoy many other styles of reading and story telling but I do believe Dahl has a special place in their hearts - and mine!

I bought this for my five year old son to listen to for our holiday in France. The idea was to entertain whilst driving - it was fantastic - both me and my husband loved it just as much as our son. Sean Bean has a wonderful voice - a great story teller. It had us all in tears - magical! If you are thinking of buying this - go for it - you wont be disappointed!

Having loved the Paddington Bear series of books as a child, I was delighted to find this Golden Anniversary story. It's a terrific little book, which I read in one sitting. My favourite childhood book - I read it countless times. This book seems to sum up what the school Summer holidays were all about when I was youngster, playing outside and having adventures (even though mine didn't include rubbish dumps or cavemen!).

Perhaps Clive King's masterpiece might seem a little dated to the modern child but I believe the relationship between Barney & Stig that lies at the heart of the book will still captivate new readers. The simple pen and ink illustrations are little gems ... Read More:

Anyone who would say this book could only be enjoyed by children are utterly wrong. I'm not a child and i thought it was a beautifully written and inspiring story. I started this book with high hopes; i had read the reviews here and was convinced that i had an enjoyable read before me (many have even stated that it is the greatest book ever written). In fact, i found it dull and tedious; every chapter has a minor event in it, ending in a patronising moral. I ended up skimming the book and giving it to charity. The worst book i've read in a while.

very clear and easy to understand and read. full of interesting and factual information but presented in an exciting way. Absolutly fascinating! a must have for all historians or anyone hus interested in ancient civilisations.
covers a huge variety of different stories, myths, legends etc.
All in all an excellent book definatly 5 stars and definatly worth reading.
