Although I enjoyed the film on a very basic, escapist level, the cynical American nationalism on show was quite replellent. As the film bowls along we are given endless panoramic views of American landmarks, cities, and - what a shock - an aircraft carrier brimming over with fighter planes. i have seen many films most are acceptable a few which are boring and some i couldn't stand. but this has started a new league of it's own i found that the films were mind griping exciting and almost had me glued to my chair. if any one is unsure wheater or not to buy these films my advice to you would be rent them first and see if you enjoy it i done that my self and adored these movies. i highly recommend this and i'm sure you will enjoy it to.

I never really got the nack of 3 hour films, 'Lord of the rings' etc. but Troy is a powerful action packed film with plenty of hard fighting.
Troy is an 'Epic' you may find the term when you look at Kingdom of heaven, Gladiator or Master and Commander. I can clearly see Troy up with films like that. As for the film iself, it has an amazing cast and i was surprised to see Sean Bean as well since i didnt read the small print lol bu yeah and it featured Peter O'toole who ive seen in many other films. It's not a five-star film, but this stout navy-blue R1 box is a veritable treasure chest. You get two DVDs, postcards and a cute little hardback book of production designs, notes and a letter from Brad Pitt complaining about his costume. It's a beautifully put-together package, and the film itself is a longer, better cut, too. You see Odysseus trying to "dodge the draft" by pretending to be a goatherd and several other little character touches taken straight from the myths, filmed and then foolishly cut to make way for more fighting.

This film is brilliant - i loved every second and have watched it at least once a month for the last year.....wow that sounds sad but it's just so good! Most love stories and romantic films leave me bored and irritated but this one is different - it's complex and ultimately hopeful. Plus of course there is the beauty of Josh......and the sound track is great too.

For those who remain sceptical about the truth of these events, do some researches, read the books of Maurice Genevoix (who fought in this war and took part in these fraternizations). I can tell you (but it is your choice to believe it or not) that my great-grand father who fought in this war, told his family when he came back (because he indeed survived) about these fraternizations during 1914 X-mas Eve.
