Jim Carrey is an incredibly talented actor. Unfortunaly, as a comedian, he is not funny in the slightest. If you into silly voices, facial expressions and general preschool 'now i know my ABC's' manarisms and gags, this film will be sure to please you.

If I could give this 0 stars I would. I seriously can't understand why anyone would give this 5 stars! Ok fine, it's good to see a mainstream lesbian film but the main characters are just plain annoying and the plot is ridiculous. I was cringing the whole way through.

As a Gilliam fan I was expecting far more from this but, as has been said before, this is possibly due to the original story on which the film was based. Things do tend to drag quite a bit after the demise of Geoff Bridges' character. And I was contantly waiting for 'something more' to happen. That said, the film is beautifully shot and well acted and the 'fantasy' scenes are memorable when Gilliam actually gives free reign to his imagination .

THE HAUNTED MANSION is another film where ordinary folks see dead people. The last was GOTHIKA. The original was, of course, SIXTH SENSE. It's evidently an inconvenient talent. I think this is a great movie, well worth the money. Of course I am biased, since I love silly horror movies *and* I love the wonderful Miss Tilly. Speaking of Jennifer Tilly, has she ever looked better than in the first few scenes of this movie? I don't think so. She's beyond gorgeous and, as always, her acting is great. She really is a great actress and sadly not recognized as such by most of the world.

First things first. If you don't like Allen's work you wont like this. However, if you like his humour you'll love this. He's done a great job in showing up luvies pretensions and self opinionated egos. It's basically a piss take at art and as usual Woody Allen does a brilliant job. Not hilarious, just ironically funny.

Peter O'Toole is hysterical in this film, and quite easily, is the glue that holds it together (contrary to popular opinion). While this film suffers its share of problems, (such as a few holes in the plot, a little shoddy acting here and there) it makes me laugh as few other movies have. i did like this! I really did, i bought it specifically because the 1920s is the era that interests me the most and was expecting...well.. something else.
