This DVD is a rare gem in childrens entertainment. Percy is a kind, caring 'gardener' who lives in his little shed (very well equiped for a small space) with all his animal 'friends' around. All lovely episodes with good stories teaching children about caring for the environment and other people/animals. Would thoroughly recommend as 'family viewing'. We all love it in our house.

This film version of Jules Verne's novel, "20,000 Leagues Under the Sea" has few, if any flaws. It won Oscars for art direction and special effects (deservedly) and the performances (especially James Mason and Kirk Douglas) were overlooked at Oscar time, probably because science fiction is often not taken seriously.

With 'City of God' being one of my favourite films, it thought it was only right that i gave this dvd a chance.
I was luckily enough to catch a couple of episodes on BBC4, but never really got the full experience.
City of men, as you know by now, is a spin off of the film City of God. Like the film, it keeps its cinematography and style at a constant excellent level.

Most people will notice a lot of Actors from City of God being used again in different roles, and i had a lot of fun seeing who i could spot.

i think this is a fantastic film. The quality is pretty bad which is an awful shame but the story itself still scares me each time i watch it. I decided to take myself off to my room last night with a cup of tea and this film and for the entirety of the film i was scared witless. I do admit i am scared by a lot of films but there is something so completely compelling and unlike anything else about black and white suspense and horror. I always ways thought thirties comedians appearing in films were grinning idiots with a delivery so slow that I genuinely believed I had prophetic qualities. But Will Hay is a revelation.

His creation of the incompetent rogue in official positions where he can't quite cut it and thus creates illicit means to stay in office (and make a few bob) are laugh-out-loud's. Take his bodged speed-trap in "Ask a Policeman."

The dialogue moves at the rate of knots and the films have none of the insipid sentimentality which jars many movie comedies of the time.
