directed by: Ethan Coen, Joel Coen

I was going to try to write a fair and balanced review, free from hyperbole and gushing praise for this film. The problem is I love this film. A lot. I'm wearing my Dude t-shirt as I write. So I'll dispense with any attempt to create a critical and objective response.

How to describe The Big Lebowski? Well, it's a comedy mixed with a Marlowe-esque detective story. One seen through a fug of weed smoke and set to a soundtrack of Creedence Clearwater Revival. The main character, an ageing ... Read More:

To collect money for an investment, Jerry (Macy) sets a fake operation up for the kidnap of his wife, but it doesn't go according to plan.

The Coen brothers have made a name for themselves over the past twenty years and this 1996 film, written and directed by the pair cements them into the highest class of different and brilliant filmmakers.

The unusual plot opens with "This is based on a true story" when in fact it isn't, which will set the tone for a bizarre but highly intriguing viewing, ... Read More:

OK, i understand that it pushes the racial boundaries and yes it is a bit far fetched and over dramatic in places but its a damn god film throughout!

The movie IS well orchestrated, slightly belivable but operates on so many different stages that its hard not to find something to enjoy. The mix of comedy, love, action, adventure and joy brings to gether a well balenced and heart wwarming movie for all the family.

and liv tyler well who needs to say more!

The Island [2005]

starring: Ewan McGregor, Scarlett Johansson, Djimon Hounsou, Sean Bean, Steve Buscemi
directed by: Michael Bay

January 09, 2006
The Island is actually a remake of a 70's film I remember watching when I was wee called The Clonus Horror. It's a film that always stuck in my mind as one that deserved a multi-million dollar remake, especially now as the idea of cloning humans is no longer within the domain of science fiction but has become a real theoretical possibility. I thought, what a thought-provoking film it could be, the moral dilemma of "growing" clones of the cream of our society only to freeze them until such times as their original counterparts needed a healthy ... The Sopranos: Complete HBO Season 5

starring: James Gandolfini, Edie Falco, Dominic Chianese, Michael Imperioli, Steve Buscemi

June 20, 2005
This is definitely the series where the sopranos lost their way completely. It didn't just take a step toward the quirky and obscure, it jumped in with all arms, legs and kitchen sink.. there is no other way to put it, it was just plain weird and boring at that. If the franchise had back to back series of that style and standard it would die right there, no doubt.

As an avid fan myself i know you are gonna buy anyway. you know you are gonna buy anyway, but i advise for you to set those expectations to low to avoid disappointment. ... Read More:

directed by: Gus Van Sant, Isabel Coixet, Wes Craven, Christopher Doyle, Vincenzo Natali

February 04, 2008
This is an eclectic collection of love tales set in Paris , some slightly dull and some just brilliant . The whole movie is worth watching just because of the Coen brothers film with Steve Buscemi and the romance between a boy and a vampire.

There are a lot of familiar faces in the movie and the short films a generally well directed , just because is 18 of them , it feels a little short.

This is not a great movie.

I watched Blood Simple for the first time a few weeks ago and really enjoyed watching Francis McDermott. She was fantastic in Fargo. Fargo was a great movie with all the right moves, excellent tone, bizarre characters, and a flatly affected but very strong pregnant cop played by McDermott. The Coen brothers are known for their slightly off-kilter films. Raising Arizona with Nicholas Cage and Holly Hunter was a very successful and entertaining quirky movie. Strange characters and bizarre situations can be very entertaining. The formula ... Read More:

June 07, 2004
This was the most embarrassing mess from Tim Burton. It should be deleted from his CV very quickly. It was so bad I thought that Ron Howard made it.
Synthetic rubbish. The story was like someone from Deliverance pitched a fairy tale to Walt Disney. I'm ashamed to have rented it, I felt like vomiting after it ended.

Pulp Fiction (2 Disc Collector's Edition) [1994]

starring: John Travolta, Christopher Walken, Bruce Willis, Ving Rhames, Steve Buscemi
directed by: Quentin Tarantino

September 16, 2002
I liked this film when I first saw it and now I have changed my mind with repeated watching. Like all Tarantino films, the dialogue between characters is unnatural. It feels like one person talking to themselves. The characters all talk in this faux intelligent geeky way about tiny things and there is no discernable differences between outlook or delivery of the characters words. The story doesn't hang together very well and the use of celebrity cameos is just celuloid cronyism. I fell for the hype, save your time and money and don't buy into this trash. Travolta is a fake, Jackson can't act, ... Read More:
