Time has given this series a "classic" tag, but from the awful theme song through to the grating voices and Japanese-style animation, this series misses the Moomin mark by miles. Of course the stories carry their own value, but the nuances and subtleties of the rather dark and profound books are missing.

Our two sons (4 & 2) really enjoyed this. They have been making Zero X and Thunderbird 4 with their Brio ever since. The 4 year old keeps wanting to know what number Thunderbird the "Thunderbird Boys" are in. Mum and Dad loved it too - it took us back to our own childhood. We were both amazed with the quality of the special effects, they stood the test of time well. An awful lot of people have heard someone else say that Ren And Stimpy suffered after creator John Kricfalusi left, or rather, was booted off his own show. These people then say the same thing themselves, and so begins a pattern. Teenagers in particular are quick to jump on bandwagons where they get to claim the earliest of something (Metallica albums, Red Dwarf episodes) are the best, without really knowing what they're talking about. This is one of the best Batman movies (10 times better than Forever and B&R). Conroy does a great Batman and it is too bad he does not do it any more. But back to the movie, the animation is excellent and the voice acting is fab (I'm looking at you Hamill). The film is all about a new vigilante in Gotham; The Phantasm. Who begins killing Mob bosses, and it is up to Batman to stop the vigilante. The film also shows us Bruce's early years as a vigilante leading up to the point where he first dons the cape and cowl.

As a great Scooby fan, and being Scottish, I grabbed this DVD when I saw it.
This is first class viewing, with Castle Blake being substituted for Castle Urquhart (where the real monster is often to be sighted).
The gang go off to Loch Ness to visit Daphne's Scottish ancestoral pile, the setting for the local Highland Games. Here Mystery Inc. come face to face with the monster and a collection of eccentric characters.
What a lot of work goes into a cartoon production like this, and one can only sit back and admire the enterprise. ... Read More:

The animated series is work of genius. Or genius's. Lovingly crafted, beautifully written and establishes itself quickly as the best depiction of Batman outside the comics.
These are some of the earliest episodes, and arguably some of the weakest. The Last Laugh is a especially bad compared with later Joker episodes and the animated movies. "Nothing to Fear" is one of my favourites and you'll notice that the Begins movie (in regards to the Scarecrow) lifts a lot of material from here.
