my 18 month old son loves this. Its got catchy songs and dances although its beginning to get on my nerves after he's played it every day for the last 2 weeks.... I'm even singing the songs when I try to go to sleep! Its v funny when my son tries to do the dances but!

I was given this book when about 5. I read it. And, it has always remained a wonderful tale . To be re-read when modern authors pall. Then, again, I found the film. It is easily forgotten that Robert Newton was a Shakesperian actor and not merely a "pirate", yet he is now the archetype of the "pirate". I now enjoy the film as much as the book. My 2 year old daughter had just got into Dora. The dvd is better than the programs on television because you can change the language. This dvd can be played in English, French and Spanish.
The plots of each story are all basically the same but my daughter seems to like this, although I must say I find the English speaking voice very annoying - it is far less annoying with the French speaking Dora!. I too first saw the trailer that made me think of an Action/Adventure movie. I honestly loved that because you went in anticipating something, and were totally unprepared for what followed. That's when you enjoy the movie the best.
