I've always liked Coldplay and previously bought Parachutes and A rush of blood to the head. However I didn't rush out to the buy this one as I wasn't overly impressed by the single Violet Hill but Viva La Vida does not disappoint. I feel with this album they have grown and evolved, it is creative, full of feeling and depth, gentler than A rush of blood to the head. The vocals are good. So too are most of the melodies. But almost every song is about betrayal and pain. The moody, downcast picture on the front of the album says it all. The album is instructive listening for all of us who casually enter into relationships and trample on each others hearts.

Well I think this NOW cd has a great track listing, maybe not quite as good as NOW 69, but very close in my opinion! I don't know why they included 'Scooter - Jumping All over the World' on here, along with a few other songs I have never heard of...but the other great tracks make it only a small negative! I think it's a shame that Madonna won't allow her tracks on here, as 4 minutes is a very popular song that would have been great on NOW 70.

A friend put this on, and after all the hype I was expecting something far far better than this! I take no pleasure in knocking new music, it's just that this really is tedious generic mush. If you like Maroon 5 I'm sure you'll love it! However, if you're reading this thinking The Script might be the next great guitar band of the year, rest assured they are not.

I'll keep this straight forward and to the point as much as possible....

The Verve before 1999 have always had 2 sides. 1 side Nick McCabe...far out experimental guitar music....

Richard Ashcroft...Straight forward ballads/rock songs...

I can't agree with the last reviewer who stated that there is one good song and ten whiney ones. That is far from the mark. Some reviews on here may put people off this album because they make out that it is a 'whingey folk album' which paints it as a singer with acoustic guitar scenario. This is wrong. There ARE the odd song like that but they are always supplemented by the gentle backing of Laura Marling. And then you have the other songs which make great use of all manner of instruments. When I first heard Albarn and Hewlett were doing this project I was looking forward to the end result so when the album was released got it straight away. I'd be lying if I said it wasn't any good, but what I will say is I don't think it works as an album. For me I think it would work better with the visuals, the show. Some nice pieces of music on there, with little interludes inbetween the tracks which in places I wished went on to become songs only to find it fade of into something else! I've revisited this Album since my missus took an eager liking of the recent film translation of the musical Mamma Mia.

I've mentioned in my review of the soundtrack that I'm not a massive Abba fan, but there is something about the music that makes it incredibly likable. I'm not going to go through all the tracks on this double CD, but each song feels very independently crafted. No two sound the same.

To be perfectly honest I don't think that I've ever been more dissapointed in a Slipknot album. The first 6 songs on the album are pretty good, but then they don't compare to finer, previous Slipknot offerings. Then you get to 'Butchers Hook' and it all just falls apart in a massively poor mess. The songs lack focus, intensity and anything that even resembles the quality we're used to. Now I love Slipknot, and at the age of 13 in 1999, when their debut cd was released they pretty much changed my life...and this album feels like such a massive slap in the face.
