I have to agree with all the other huge Kings fans who've been let down by this album. I thought 'Because of the Times' was a departure from their original raw sound but the tracks are all fantastic in their own right, so it succeeded as a progressive work. But they've set 5 star standards for themselves with their previous records and this album, however, just takes things too far into the mainstream. Oasis always seem to get critised every time they release a new album. My daughter bought me this for my birthday, cant stop playing it full volumn in the car. Cry everytime it gets to "slipping thru my fingers" I can really relate to this song. A must for every Abba fan and even some who aren't. All the cast did a fantastic job with all the songs, some better than others.

This stuff is interesting but its not up to the standard of the original 3 volumes. 1-3 had numerous brand new tracks; but here we get just 3 or 4 decent new songs sandwiched between some unsatisfactory preliminary versions, random live tracks numerous work-in-progress recordings.

It really feels more like a friend has made you a Dylan mix tape than an official release, though the marketing boys have made a lovely box for it. I would say that there is actually just one discs's worth of exciting new material spread over the 3 available ... Read More:

When I first heard 'Mercy' I didn't like it because I thought the background riff sounded too much like the one from 'Stand By Me' and, for me, it didn't quite work. Also, it is too easy to compare the latest female singing sensation to Dusty Springfield or Amy W which isn't fair on anyone concerned. This is a difficult one to review - as a fan of the band for many, many years I was initially disappointed on first listen. I still don't think This Was Just Your Life is actually that strong a starter (in my opinion Frantic was better - agreed, though, that St. Anger as an album was poorer). Yet, on the whole, and after hours of repeat listening, it is a very well crafted album with many merits.
