i was enthusiastic about this toy based on the reviews, however I was disappointed when I received it. The pegs sit on a metal base to make them bounce and some of the metal seems to come off onto the bottom of the peg. That means i'm unhappy leaving the toy with my baby unless i'm watching as i don't want him to put the pegs in his mouth. That means that this toy isn't used as much as i'd hoped.

This was invaluable for my daughter!! I've read mixed reviews but my daughter loved this nest as did I. She was an early sitter and has very strong legs and I wonder if its from all the leg stretching & kicking of the ring that helped her. We had 2 - the gym one did fall apart lots (they need to develop the frame somewhat as parts didn't stay together well) so just used both as rings rather than gym. Okay thats a harsh description of my son but its true. I bought this for my eight week old son for two reasons - he needs constant stimulation and he is quite freaky in that he has been holding his head up from birth and gets very frustrated at the majority of toys aimed at his age range that expect him to lie down - which he doesn't like doing.

It just didnt really work for her, the one we hired would express double the amount in about 10 minutes.

Strengths:
- Very lightweight
- Cute music
- Cute pictures from the light show

Weaknesses:
- Can easily be pulled down by baby using its fingers
- Pictures are on a rotating disc, so may become boring after a while.
- Once the baby sits up in the crib, this can be hazardous if it't attached to the side, because the light has a warning not to let eyes come in the way of the rays.
- Probably useless after the child is four months old, if not before.

I got this for my 7 month old daughter to teach her about "putting things in and taking things out". It took her a while to get it, but she always loved the individual toys, and chewing on the "bowl". These days one or other of the little fishies is always in her hands - small and very portable, with lots of different experiences in one reasonably priced toy. Would buy as a present for every baby I encounter!
