My daughter is 9 months and has had the giraffe for about a month. She stands up using it no problem and immediately stops crying and turns to it if I start playing with it and she is upset. We had no problems at all and all her cousins (1yr to 4yrs) love playing with it too.

I echo the sentiments of the other reviewers but would like to add that this toy smells great (it has a subtle lemony scent) and makes a really unusual noise which is kind of like the clink two glass bottles make when they touch each other.

We have the previous 'orange' model of this monitor (before Avent paired up with Philips to make this model), and it has been absolutely fantastic for our 1st child. So we bought this new 'blue' Avent/Philips model for our 2nd child, thinking it would be identical. We bought this for my son before he was born and used the whole unit until he began to try to pull the animals off. Then, we just took the stick with the mobile off and left the musical control unit in the cot. He is 1.5 years old now and loves to turn the music on in the morning (he really loves the Bach tune, in particular).
Now I am faced with the decision of which mobile to buy for the second child because I cannot take away his little music box - even though he doesn't care about the mobile anymore!

I bought this product for my 10 yr old cousin for her Birthday. As soon as she opened the present she couldn't wait to start blending the different scents to make her own Perfume. I was concerened that there didn't seem very much in the kit, especially for the size of the box, however, several scents were made along with slime and pourri. I was slightly disappointed that as a night light it was not very bright. Nothing like the picture on the box! However my 2 year old thinks its great, so it serves its purpose in that respect.

We were very disapointed with this item - the bell ring is VERY quiet and the magnetic ringer only works with brio trucks that have large metal hubs on the wheels. If, like us, you have a hybrid set of Tesco/Thomas/Brio etc. you may find some problems with getting the bell to ring at all.

It's a good idea but just doesn't work well in practice.
we recommend a level crossing or collapsing bridge instead.
